Minority Enterprise Development Scholarship Program Instructions

The Minority and Small Business Alliance of Southern Arizona is sponsoring this scholarship program as part of Minority Enterprise Development Week. The program is intended to assist and encourage outstanding minority students to complete their college education.

These scholarships are directed specifically towards business students at Pima Community College (PCC) and University of Arizona (UA).

Students must be sophomores or higher, including post graduate, in the fall to be eligible for this scholarship. A written essay, completed application form, and college transcripts are required for consideration.

The MED Week Scholarship Committee will select scholarship recipients based on the criteria set forth in the Minority Enterprise Development Scholarship Program Instructions.

Application Process: All application packets must be post-marked by May 30, 2010 and must include the following.

•  Completed signed 2010 MED Scholarship Application form

•  College transcript (Official or unofficial as of fall semester, 2009); Must show grade point average

•  One page response to essay question (not more than 1 page with a minimum 10 font.)

•  Checklist and signed Certification Sheet

Selection Criteria: The following criteria is used to select the recipients

•  Academic performance

•  Extracurricular activities

•  Community Involvement

•  Work experience

•  Prior recipients of the MED week scholarship are not eligible for consideration.

•  Immediate family members of the MED Week advisory board are not eligible for consideration.


Time Schedule:
May 30, 2010 Application materials must be post-marked and mailed
July 15, 2010 Recipients will be notified
August 1, 2010 Scholarship money deposited into student's bursar account
September 16, 2010 MED Week awards ceremony-Scholarship Presentation
